It occurred to me that people ask me the same questions about Keetologue all the time, so I prepared this handy dandy Frequently Asked Questions document for said questions. Away we go!

Where does the name Keetologue come from?

Keetologue is a play on words, made up of the following:

Keet - my nickname since I was a kid, for Kitty
ologue - like catalogue, an enumeration or list of things.

Essentially, Keetologue is an enumeration and narrative of things, whether they be people or concepts, that interest me. Self-indulgent, I know.

Do you really do everything yourself?

Yes, if you would believe it. I write it, I design it, I plug it. Unless otherwise noted in the credits. Usually my sister, Teresa Winky Mak, will supply some drawings.

Why did you start Keetologue?

In 2001-2002, I wrote for my school paper, the McGill Tribune, and a lot of my work was cut out due to space restrictions, and there were only a finite number of topics that could be covered. That summer, I decided to go off in my own direction, and Keetologue was the result.

Why is Keetologue not in print?

  1. I'm not that rich.
  2. Do we need another magazine on newsstands? It's pretty scary the number of overpriced, one-word title lifestyle type magazines on the newsstands already. There is even a magazine on cosmetic surgery lifestyles. Jesus. (I'm sure there are many magazines about him, I mean Him, too.)
  3. Being in print, most often equates to needing advertising to subsidize the magazine and to pay the salaries of those writing. This is a labour of love. (insert teary violin music here).
Can I write something for Keetologue?

Sure. Many people have offered, few have followed up. Send me what you have to kitty[at]keetologue[dot]com.

How can I get my band/album/work/etc. in Keetologue?

Email me and we'll talk. kitty[at]keetologue[dot]com.
